About The Position

Join the coaching staff for a competitive summer swim season. Assistant Coaches work on deck with swimmers of all ages and abilities, teaching technique, running practices, and supporting athletes at meets. The position reports to the Lead Assistant Coaches and Head Coach/Aquatics Director. The season runs March 4 through June 30, 2027. Attendance at all assigned practices and required events is a condition of employment. Pay is $20 per hour.

Pre-season schedule, starting April 12: Monday–Thursday, 4:30–8:00 p.m., and Saturday, 8:00–11:00 a.m. Summer schedule, May 25–June 21: mornings Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, 8:30–11:00 a.m.; evenings Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 5:30–8:00 p.m. Required events include Coaches Orientation; Time Trials on May 2; dual meets on May 24, June 1, June 7, and June 21; Bye Week Bash on June 15; the Championship Meet at Georgia Tech on June 27; and the End of Season Banquet on August 8.

Requirements

• Competitive swimming background.
• Strong knowledge of competitive strokes, starts, turns, and finishes.
• Positive and dependable, with the ability to connect with children and teenagers.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain them before the season.
• Must complete Safe Sport requirements.
• Attend all assigned practices and required events.

Nice To Haves

• Coaching, teaching, or youth experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coach assigned groups using workouts provided by the Lead Assistant Coaches.
• Teach strokes, starts, turns, and finishes with clear, positive feedback.
• Actively supervise swimmers and help keep practices safe and organized.
• Support swimmers at meets with warm-ups, race preparation, and event check-in.
• Help build a welcoming, high-energy team culture through games, relays, and recognition.
• Promptly report injuries, safety issues, and swimmer concerns to lead staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
