Bargaining Unit: UUP Job Summary: The Department of Clinical Laboratories at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Assistant Supervisor, Clinical Laboratory Technologist I, Hematology & Urinalysis. The successful candidate will: Adhere to departmental, hospital, and government regulations. Be in charge of and responsible for the operation of the laboratory. Be accountable for day-to-day laboratory operations, review quality control, and performance improvement activities. Oversee and conduct timely performance of specimen testing. Oversee and conduct recording and archiving test and QC results. Maintain inventory statistics. Be responsible for shifting staff around or assign staff additional duties to maintain workflow smoothly. Demonstrate flexibility and perform other job related duties and responsibilities as business needs warrant and/or as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree or equivalent in Medical Technology, Physical or Biological Sciences.
  • New York State Medical Laboratory Technologist License.

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of supervisory experience in Chemistry and Hematology laboratories preferred.
  • ASCP Certification.
