Under the guidance of the Site Superintendent and in partnership with the Project Manager, this role develops, manages, and completes a job plan for an assigned job. The position champions "The Layton Way" by delivering predictable outcomes for internal teams, external teams, and customers, and ensures that "Constructing with Integrity" is delivered by working with honesty, unity, safety, and quality of work. The Assistant Superintendent will review plans and specifications to gain a comprehensive knowledge of job requirements, develop job plans including schedule, access, manpower, and building requirements, and procure tools, labor, and some materials. This role involves interacting with architects and owners to resolve job issues, communicating construction issues and progress to various stakeholders including supervisory personnel, craft personnel, subcontractors, and clients, and conferring with supervisory and engineering personnel, inspectors, and suppliers to resolve construction problems and improve methods. The Assistant Superintendent will inspect work in progress to ensure conformance to specifications and schedules, manage the project based on progress reports, materials used, and costs, and adjust work schedules accordingly. They will work with the Project Manager in preparing the Project Management Plan and may track and price extra work tickets, change requests, and back charges. Compliance with all safety policies, practices, and procedures is required, and unsafe activities must be reported. The role demands integrity, maintenance of professional standards of conduct and ethics, and adherence to company policies and procedures. Active participation in a team environment and contribution to team goals are expected. Other related duties as assigned.
