About The Position

The Assistant Superintendent for Commercial Plumbing helps manage onsite teams, jobsite logistics, and safety compliance under the direction of the Plumbing Superintendent. This is also a working role, involving direct performance of skilled construction tasks related to plumbing and other piping system operations. The position has supervisory responsibility and may require travel to multiple job sites.

Requirements

At least 5 years of commercial experience in field plumbing operations, or an equivalent combination of vocational training and experience.
Extensive knowledge of plumbing systems installation.
Ability to successfully supervise crews.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work across varied disciplines.
Knowledge of man-hour reports, job-cost reports, workforce planning, and estimating.
Understanding of construction cost control, forecasting, and goal setting.
Knowledge of other mechanical trade disciplines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to present information effectively to customers, clients, and colleagues.
Ability to multitask, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, pay attention to detail, and solve problems.
Must adhere to company policies and procedures.
Must be available and able to report to multiple job sites as assigned.
Able to work aloft, climb, bend, pull, reach overhead, stand or walk for long periods, and lift up to 50 pounds.
Able to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
Able to identify all colors of a color-coded cable or wires and demonstrate close and distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Nice To Haves

At least 5 years of experience in a heavy mechanical construction environment.
Prior military experience.
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
OSHA 30 training.
CPR training.

Responsibilities

Provide on-site supervision of commercial plumbing crews.
Promote and monitor safety across jobsite activities.
Work with subcontractors, foremen, tradesmen, and the general contractor to remove obstacles and improve efficiency.
Plan, schedule, and coordinate on-site functions.
Perform material take-offs and order tools, materials, and equipment in a timely manner.
Ensure quality installation of plumbing activities.
Coordinate, inspect, and track deliveries against shipping documents.
Coordinate labor and equipment for loading, unloading, and distributing materials on site.
Forecast labor needs to the superintendent and foremen based on anticipated deliveries.
Directly perform skilled construction tasks.
Coordinate and manage composite cleanup crew efforts.
Monitor daily activities and compile reports on progress, compliance, and obstacles.
Enforce safety and legal regulations to maintain a safe job site.
Communicate with subcontractors and field staff to ensure adherence to schedules, plans, and specifications.
Manage, inspect, and maintain shared project tools.
Record and monitor tool and material inventory with support from foremen.
Maintain cleanliness of the trailer, work area, and material storage area.
Perform other duties as assigned.
