About The Position

GAI Consultants is seeking an Assistant Substation CAD Operator 1 to support Substation projects. This position requires working with engineering and other technical subject matter experts in all aspects of electrical substation and protections & controls design services. The successful candidate will perform CAD work of red-lined engineering markups for various substations and/or protection and control engineering projects as well as project support working under engineering supervision. Requirements

1+ Years of Experience
Associate Degree from an accredited Technical School
Knowledge of plot profiles and user profiles in CAD package.
Ability to learn multiple software platforms including, but not limited to, AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical.
Ability to work extended hours or after hours when required.
Ability to learn AutoCAD Electrical smart functions and relationships.
Able to identify inconsistencies in drawings and communicate these issues of concern to his or her supervisor.
Able to take and follow verbal instruction.
Possess basic oral and written communication skills.
Interacts effectively with other staff.
Learns to master and accurately follow instructions from others.

Assist in compiling, collating, assembling, and verifying completeness of drawing and project document packages.
Assist CAD technicians and CAD operators in the development of their skills as required.
Assist with general office function such as printing and issuing drawings and drawing packages.

Responsibilities

Opening, revising, plotting, and saving of drawing CAD files.
Assist in compiling, collating, assembling, and verifying completeness of drawing and project document packages.
Assist CAD technicians and CAD operators in the development of their skills as required.
Attend project-specific meetings as required.
Manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under the pressure of deadlines and unexpected developments.
Learn and help find ways to improve GAI Engineering CAD Standards.
Effective communication with the project team.
Basic 2-D line work and text edits as well as ACADE smart functions.
Plot and create PDF drawings.
Perform red-line edits.
Follows basic QA/QC procedures.
Assist with general office function such as printing and issuing drawings and drawing packages.
Responsible for personal task management and adherence to deadlines and scope.
