About The Position
The Assistant Store Manager supports the daily operations of one or more self-storage locations under the guidance of the District Manager and Store Manager. This role helps ensure high standards of cleanliness and operational excellence, builds customer relationships through in-person and phone interactions, presents a structured sales process, and manages customer accounts. Extra Space Storage is the largest self-storage company in the United States by store count, with over 4,000 stores nationwide. The company seeks reliable employees with strong communication skills and a passion for helping people.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of customer-facing work experience.
- A current, valid driver’s license and access to a reliable personal vehicle for daily bank deposits and travel to other sites as needed, except in New York City and Brooklyn.
- High school diploma or GED.
Nice To Haves
- Sales experience is preferred.
- College education is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships by identifying storage needs and providing tailored solutions.
- Maximize sales objectives through unit rentals, unit insurance, and moving supplies.
- Maintain cleanliness through continuous site maintenance, including sweeping, mopping, and grounds maintenance across the office, storage buildings, and surrounding areas.
- Perform daily site safety inspections, including lock checks.
- Address and resolve customer concerns related to billing, security, auctions, and proper site usage.
- Handle cash transactions, balance receipts, follow up on delinquent payments, process customer payments, and complete daily bank deposits.
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with Extra Space employees to protect the company culture.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
