The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for performing all duties and performance requirements of a Customer Service Representative (CSR) proficiently and consistently. In addition, they will perform managerial and leadership duties, including assisting the Store Manager with recruiting and training new CSR candidates. This role requires proficiency in operating various equipment such as Point of Sale systems, credit/debit card machines, lottery terminals, ATMs, and fuel dispensers. The Assistant Store Manager must handle necessary paperwork transactions, act as an ambassador for SBOC/Han-Dee Hugo’s, champion the Company’s Values and Mission Statement, and address customer complaints professionally and in a timely manner. Good communication skills and the promotion of teamwork within the store are essential. Proficiency in all equipment and reports, along with the capability to immediately activate emergency controls and alarms, handle accidental spills, and use fire extinguishers and emergency shut-offs, is required. The Assistant Store Manager must provide proper leadership for CSRs and set a positive customer experience tone in the store, both in the Store Manager's presence and absence. They will also assist the Manager with store paperwork, scheduling, cash and inventory controls, merchandising, and stocking. The Assistant Manager must be able to perform any tasks assigned to CSRs, including working all shifts, and report any maintenance issues to the Manager. They will assist the Manager in maintaining proper cash levels in the register, ATM, and safe, and help with bank deposits. Additionally, they will assist the Manager with training CSRs to provide excellent customer service. The Assistant Manager must ensure all employees adhere to safety procedures, maintain a safe work environment, recognize and respond to safety issues, and promote a culture of safety. They will work with vendors to ensure Vendor Control Policies are implemented and followed, and are responsible for ensuring the store is clean and ready for inspection. The Assistant Manager must ensure all employees are upselling to optimize sales, attend all company-called training meetings, and ensure employees do not discuss pricing strategies with competitors. Fuel surveys must be completed by visiting competitor locations, and no telephone surveys are allowed. Conversations with competitors regarding fuel prices should be avoided. The Assistant Manager must ensure no warrants are signed or criminal proceedings instigated without direct approval from corporate leadership, and all subpoenas or legal documents must be referred to the Corporate Offices. They must be proficient in ordering convenience store merchandise and fuel products and verify surveillance cameras are working and recording before ending their shift, reporting any issues to the Manager. The Assistant Manager is responsible for the safety and security of all employees while on duty. Assistant Managers and Store Managers should work together to ensure proper management during morning and evening shifts.
