About The Position

Under the supervision of the Store Manager, the Assistant Store Manager is primarily responsible for all aspects of the sales floor, customer service and the training of team members as well as supporting the day to day store operations. The mission of this role is to ensure the efficient and cost effective operation and stewardship of Goodwill Retail Store to maximize profitability and increase training opportunities.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of management/supervisory experience in a business (retail) setting preferred.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal skills, and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must open the store at least (2) times per week and must close the store at least (2) times per week, on time. This will result in managers opening and closing the store at least (4) days a week.
  • Must have reliable transportation.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business of related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and performs all job responsibilities within the retail store.
  • Ensures 100% world-class customer service.
  • Opens and closes the store as required.
  • Hires, trains, develops, supervises, and evaluates assigned team members.
  • Ensures good stewardship of all donations, through proper handling and processing of incoming donation flow in and out of the store.
  • Schedules/maintains labor and payroll in accordance with MGI policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for image, maintenance, loss prevention and security.
  • Orders and maintains supplies for designated areas within the store budget.
  • Responsible for Monthly Safety Site Inspection, Incident/Accident reports, Purchase and supply orders, Team Member Meeting Minutes, Accurate data in required reports including but not limited to End of Day, Unprocessed, donor counts etc., Scheduling team members in ADP at least two weeks in advance, WESA Reporting, Work Requests (Maintenance, IT, etc.), Meeting Sales Requirement (Transaction Value, Change Round Up), Team member retention, Team member training and Goodwill U.
  • Ensuring the following requirements are met: Rotation timely and in accordance with rotation plan, Store appearance internal and external, The store is full and fresh with product, Donations uphold the MGI standards for product to be sold, Price point on product meets industry standards.
  • Merchandising and inventory of new goods.
  • Keeps informed for product knowledge, industry trends, and competitive pricing.
  • Cross-trained to assist as needed for Assistant Store Manager – Production.
  • Performs assigned duties and responsibilities within the framework of our Guiding Principles and Core Values.
  • May be asked to participate in activities outside of Goodwill.
  • Attending in-service and related training as assigned by Store Manager.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Store Manager.
