About The Position

The Assistant Store Manager assists and consults with the Store Manager on overall store operations and administrative duties, including determining methods and approaches for accomplishing store goals. The role requires knowledge of each product area or department and adherence to the policies, procedures, and standards in the visual manual. The Assistant Store Manager promotes merchandise and provides outstanding customer service. In the Store Manager’s absence, the Assistant Store Manager assumes supervisory control of the store and is trained in the Store Manager’s responsibilities.

Requirements

Experience working in a retail environment; footwear and athletic apparel experience is preferred.
1–3 years of customer service experience.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to assist in managing a team and maintain focus on goals and profitability.
Self-starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked.
Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks accurately.
Team-player who is passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.

Responsibilities

Assist the Store Manager in controlling company assets.
Consult with the Store Manager to establish action plans for selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
Assume responsibility for the entire store in the Store Manager’s absence.
Assist with recruiting, training, and evaluating personnel.
Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers across departments as needed.
Monitor inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to support profitability.
Direct staff to ensure departmental responsibilities and standards are completed.
Keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
Maintain quality customer service and provide assistance to customers, including during peak periods.
Promote and sell company services and merchandise.
Follow company policies, procedures, and standards in the operations, personnel, visual, and customer service manuals, as well as company communications.
Protect company assets and financial information by ensuring effective internal controls and reporting potential fraud risks to management or appropriate officials.
Perform general administrative duties as needed and train in the Store Manager’s responsibilities.
Supervise employees in the Store Manager’s absence, including interviewing and training employees, planning and directing work, assigning tasks, and resolving problems.
