About The Position

The assistant manager’s role is to assist the sales center manager in developing and managing a business operation that increases sales, profitability, market share, and customer and employee satisfaction. On a daily basis our Assistant Store Manager: Assists the sales center manager with customer service and sales, warehouse operations, inventory management and control, and safety. Hires, trains, directs, and manages all sales center personnel involved with counter sales, customer service, accounts receivable, and warehouse operations. Hires, develops and evaluates employees to achieve corporate and personal objectives. Complies with equal employment opportunity laws, regulations and company policies related to discrimination in hiring, firing, promotion and compensation. Responsible for safeguarding all company assets including inventory, cash, equipment, vehicles and facilities. Implements and monitors all company policies and procedures for safe, efficient sales center operations. Assists the sales center manager in developing, implementing, and monitoring sales center policies and budgets and assists in developing sales center goals. Participates actively in community, business and industry organizations to build a network of contacts that improve the presence and reputation of the sales center and company in the local area. Cooperates fully with the Credit Department in extending and enforcing credit policy. Manages the sales center honestly, follows high ethical standards and complies with all government regulations. Maintains proficiency in computerized systems and other technologies as required. Follows company policy and procedures. Performs any directly related appropriate duties assigned by the sales center, zone and/or regional manager. Other non-essential job duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) and/or two years warehousing or distribution experience.
  • Pool/spa equipment and chemicals experience preferred.
  • Prior experience assisting in the development of site budgets and monitoring P&L statistics.
  • Prior experience managing accounts receivables.
  • Possess a strong sales aptitude.
  • Ability to perform business math (percentages, ratios, discounts, interests, etc).
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, or technical procedures.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Effective listening, communication (verbal and written), and negotiating skills.
  • Possess strong computer skills including proficiency in MS Office software and familiarity with inventory control software.
