About The Position

The Assistant Store Manager supports the daily operations of one or more self-storage locations under the guidance of the District Manager and Store Manager. The role helps ensure facilities meet high cleanliness standards and deliver operational excellence. Assistant Store Managers build customer relationships through in-person and phone interactions, follow a structured sales process, and manage customer accounts. The positions are at multiple Extra Space Storage locations in the greater Charleston, South Carolina area.

The company is hosting an in-person hiring event on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM US/EST, at 810 St Andrews Blvd, Charleston, SC 29407. Candidates are asked to register for an interview time and bring a resume.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of customer-facing work experience.
• A current valid driver’s license and access to a reliable personal vehicle for daily bank deposits and travel to other sites as needed, except in New York City and Brooklyn.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to perform indoor and outdoor work, including standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, sitting, and lifting.
• Ability to regularly lift or move items up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Sales experience preferred.
• College education is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain strong customer relationships by identifying storage needs and providing tailored solutions.
• Maximize sales objectives through unit rentals, unit insurance, and moving supplies.
• Maintain site cleanliness through continuous upkeep of the office, storage buildings, grounds, and surrounding areas, including tasks such as sweeping and mopping.
• Perform daily site safety inspections, including lock checks.
• Address and resolve customer concerns related to billing, security, auctions, and proper site usage.
• Handle cash transactions, balance receipts, follow up on delinquent payments, process customer payments, and complete daily bank deposits.
• Establish and maintain professional relationships with Extra Space employees to support the company culture.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
