About The Position

The Assistant Store Manager - Selling reports to the Store Manager and is responsible for overall sales in an assigned area. This role exercises discretion of leadership to ensure the accomplishment of division and store goals for the assigned area. The Assistant Store Manager - Selling is responsible for meeting or exceeding store and Omni sales and profit plans through the training, coaching, and managing of direct reports. They ensure shrinkage control and Asset Protection in store through the continual management of direct reports. This role educates direct reports and ensures the execution of the sales promotion calendar to associates to achieve sales and profit goals. They also educate and manage direct reports to ensure price integrity in the store, including timely completion of permanent price changes. The Assistant Store Manager - Selling ensures that all price changes are communicated through approved channels and reports all deviations to the Store Manager/Price Manager. They ensure and execute year-end and mid-year inventory strategies in a timely and efficient manner. This role provides training and communication of meeting or exceeding Customer Experience goals to the team. They communicate with the Store Manager and Corporate Merchants regarding merchandise issues and needs that are identified. The Assistant Store Manager - Selling ensures merchandise is consistently presented by their team according to Belk visual and merchandising standards. They are responsible for ensuring and coordinating timely floor setup, including signage, for promotional events and seasonal business activity. They ensure adequate staffing in their departments to meet customer service expectations. This role identifies current trends and provides direction in visual merchandising concepts. They conduct timely reviews and communicate development needs identified with direct reports, setting goals and identifying areas for improvement. The Assistant Store Manager - Selling recruits, interviews, selects, and retains quality associates, ensuring all positions are filled in a timely manner. They identify, recognize, and grow Top Producers. This role maintains high team morale, provides timely communications of policies and other information to direct reports, and follows through on all concerns or problems that develop within their team. They provide effective coaching to improve the performance of all associates and communicate with associates on possible career paths and advancement opportunities. The Assistant Store Manager - Selling provides store leadership when the Store Manager is not present and drives sales and profitability in assigned areas.

Requirements

  • Four-year college degree or extensive leadership experience in retail management
  • Proficient in computer business-related computer software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, etc).
  • Excellent supervisory, analytical and reasoning skills
  • Ability to use computer keyboard, standard telephone and other related business equipment
  • Must be 16 years of age or older

Responsibilities
