Under minimal supervision, serves as the Auditor-In-Charge of the largest and/or most complex financial or compliance audits of local and/or state government entities. Assumes full responsibility for the planning, conducting, and documentation of risk-based audits. Leads other staff assigned to the audit, makes work assignments, reviews workpapers, and provides mentoring and coaching to develop the skills of assigned audit staff. Serving as a mentor for assigned staff training them on all aspects of risk-based auditing. Ensuring they have a strong understanding of the goals and provides feedback to the AAM and Manager regarding staff development. Ensures assigned audits are planned and performed under comprehensive national performance standards including: Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS), Generally Accepted Governmental Auditing Standards (GAGAS), the U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Circular A-133, Audits of State and Local Government, and SAO Audit Policies. Audits must be of a quality to pass internal Quality Control Reviews, and National Peer Review. Team South King County (SKC), with an office located in Kent, WA, offers a unique opportunity for team members to participate in a variety of state and local government audits, including accountability, financial statement, and federal grant compliance. The team is responsible for conducting the audits of more than 73 governments located primarily in King County and for ensuring that governments safeguard public funds and follow state and federal laws and their own policies. We perform audits of cities, fire districts, school districts, risk pools, higher education agencies, and more.
