About The Position

Penn State Schuylkill is seeking a part-time Assistant Coach for its Softball Team. This position is responsible for assisting the head coach with all aspects of the Softball program, including evaluating and recruiting academically qualified and talented student-athletes. The role involves coaching, recruitment assistance, practice scheduling, fostering a positive team culture, providing feedback for awards, encouraging community service, and driving campus fleet vehicles.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Coaching or playing experience at the high school level.
• Proficient communication skills.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Ability to work effectively with student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and staff.
• Knowledge of USCAA and PSUAC student-athlete and institutional compliance rules and rules governing the play of various games.
• Event and personnel management experience.
• PA State Police Criminal Background Check.
• PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form.
• Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Successful completion of a motor vehicle records check.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.
• Collegiate coaching experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with practice and competition coaching.
• Assist with the recruitment of academically qualified and skilled student-athletes.
• Help to arrange weekly practice schedules on the field.
• Help to provide vision and leadership to create a positive team culture.
• Provide feedback for the Director of Athletics to nominate and select weekly/season conference and national awards.
• Assist with the development of opportunities to participate in service activities and encourage participation in community service. Use these opportunities to teach life lessons about respect, hard work, the value of education, and service to others.
• Drive campus fleet vehicles to and from contests, events, etc.
