About The Position

Berkeley Preparatory School is seeking a Part-Time Assistant Softball Coach to join its athletic program. The Assistant Coach is responsible for engaging, inspiring, and developing student-athletes through expert coaching, training, mentorship, and fostering a culture of integrity, passion, teamwork, and excellence both on and off the field. The school is an independent, co-educational, Episcopal affiliated college preparatory school with a current enrollment of 1,400 students in grades Pre-K through 12, located on a beautiful and well-equipped 86-acre campus. Berkeley aims to educate the whole child by nurturing students’ intellectual, emotional, spiritual, and physical development and is committed to providing an inclusive and diverse learning community.

Requirements

  • Proven successful coaching experience, with a track record of managing and developing all aspects of a competitive sports program.
  • Strong commitment to the academic, athletic, and personal development of student-athletes.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships within and outside the softball program.
  • Desire to work collaboratively with colleagues and administrators.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate a highly competitive and inclusive softball program rooted in integrity, growth, and learning, with a focus on character development.
  • Inspire and motivate student-athletes to reach their full potential in softball while promoting academic success and personal development.
  • Support athletes in achieving their goals with a growth minded approach to practice planning.
  • Ensure safety protocols are adhered to during all practices and games, maintaining a secure and healthy environment for all participants.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, student-athletes, and the athletic department.
  • Uphold the values, policies, and ethical standards of the institution as well as the FHSAA.
  • Engage in learning opportunities to continue growing as a coach and person.
  • Recruit a staff of one to two assistants to partner with in the leadership of the Berkeley varsity softball program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the athletic department.
  • Provide offseason opportunities for growth and skill development.
