About The Position

Appalachian State University is seeking an Assistant Softball Coach to support a competitive NCAA Division I softball program committed to academic integrity, competitive excellence, social responsibility, and a world-class student-athlete experience. This position assists the head coach in all aspects of the program, including recruiting and retaining high-caliber student-athletes, on-field instruction and player development, and mentoring student-athletes to succeed academically, athletically, and personally. Primary responsibility is to serve as the pitching coach.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Strong working knowledge of pitcher development.
• Ability to scout opposing teams and develop a report for the Head Coach.
• Strong leadership abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to be actively involved in the Appalachian State and Boone community.
• Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations as they apply to recruitment and player eligibility.

Nice To Haves

• 2+ years of full-time experience leading a pitching unit.
• 2+ years of proven experience in developing pitchers.
• Demonstrated ability to identify and recruit at the highest level.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the pitching coach.
• Assist the head coach in all aspects of a Division I softball program.
• Manage all aspects related to on and off-campus recruiting.
• Assist the recruiting coordinator in recruiting-related activities.
• Plan and engage in community service activities.
• Act as a point of contact with SAAC and team SAAC representatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the head coach.
• Scout opposing teams and develop a report for the Head Coach.
