The Joint CMS Athletics, Physical Education, and Recreation Program is comprised of student-athletes from Claremont McKenna, Harvey Mudd, and Scripps Colleges and offers a comprehensive program of regular physical education, intramural, recreational, club, and varsity sports. CMS varsity teams compete in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC), as a member of NCAA Division III. The Program is comprised is 21 varsity sports (10 men’s, 11 women’s) and supports a student population of over 3,200 and a student-athlete population of approximately 530. The Athenas have a rich history of success on the field, having won eight SCIAC regular season championships and five SCIAC Postseason Tournament titles, including a regular season co-champion in 2024. In addition, the Athenas have made numerous appearances in the NCAA Tournament, including reaching the NCAA Super Regionals in 2014 and serving as a regional host in 2019. The Athenas have won 30 or more games eight times since 2010, and reached the 20-win plateau in SCIAC games five times in that span, including 24-4 in both 2016 and 2019. In the classroom, the Athenas have earned Easton All-America Scholar honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for having grade point averages of 3.5 or higher each year, and half the team regularly earns all SCIAC All-Academic Team recognition. BASIC FUNCTION: This position is responsible for assisting the Head Softball Coach in all facets of the program, including but not limited to: organizing and conducting team training and practices, recruiting, team travel logistics, scholar-athlete development, and compliance with all applicable rules and regulations. Additional administrative responsibilities as assigned by the Head Coach. This position will also assist the Sport Operations Department, primarily while out of season.
