About The Position

Discover After School, founded in 2019, is dedicated to empowering children through after-school STEAM exploration. The organization offers before and after-school programs, seasonal camps, training, resources, and family/community events, blending fun with science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM) to foster creativity and innovation. With a reach of over 2,000 students in Orange County, Discover After School aims to expand its impact by opening preschools and building community partnerships. Their mission is to create a world of possibilities for the next generation through STEAM.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of management experience / working with children.
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Background Screening
  • Satisfactory Drug Screening
  • Strong verbal, listening, and written communication skills in English is required.
  • Ability to communicate at a high level to both children and administration.
  • Ability to problem solve and critically think through daily situations.
  • Be accepting of ALL children, parents, and staff without regard to race, creed, abilities, religion, socioeconomic status, or sexual orientation.
  • Report to all scheduled shifts on time
  • Attend all meetings pertinent to this position
  • Maintain and support all procedures that ensure the safety of children, parents, and staff

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual, with proficiency in both English and Spanish is a plus.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Prefer a degree from an accredited College.
  • 3-6 months' experience in a supervisory position.
  • Experience with Children: 1-2 years (Preferred)
  • First Aid Certification
  • CPR Certification

Responsibilities

  • Support the director and counselors.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of attendance, absences, and emergency information on each child.
  • Maintain all other records regarding schedule changes, behavior, and incident reports.
  • Effectively supervise and evaluate job performance of counselors.
  • Encourage open communication regarding concerns/issues with children, parents, or co-workers.
  • Present positive role modeling through all interactions with program participants.
  • Oversee and participate in the cleaning and maintaining of facilities, equipment, and all areas used.
  • Take care of all supplies, equipment, and materials; be respectful of school property; ensure all school rules are followed.
