About The Position

Take 5 Oil Change is seeking a career-minded Assistant Shop Manager who enjoys working with people and is ready to help lead a fast-paced team. The role supports the Shop Manager with daily operations, team development, and delivering a fast, friendly customer experience. The Assistant Shop Manager serves as Manager on Duty when needed, helping keep the team focused and the shop safe, efficient, and running smoothly. Paid, hands-on training covers the technical skills and service standards needed to succeed. Automotive experience is valued but not required.

This is an active, hands-on position in a fast-paced automotive service environment. The role includes completing Certified Technician training and performing Certified Technician and Lead Technician responsibilities. Team members must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, move safely in and out of a shallow three-foot-deep pit to position themselves under vehicles, perform a range of physical movements for extended periods, and work in hot or cold weather when necessary.

Requirements

• At least 6 months of customer service experience in a fast-paced service environment, delivering consistent and exceptional service.
• At least 6 months of experience leading, coaching, or mentoring others in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to following and maintaining facility and safety control policies and practices.
• Strong communication skills and comfort providing direction, coaching, and feedback to team members.
• Initiative, accountability, and follow-through on responsibilities.
• Ability to remain calm, organized, and solutions-focused during busy periods.
• Ability to meet applicable age and certification requirements, including Inspector Certification when required.
• Reliable transportation to and from the work location.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and maneuver safely in and out of a shallow three-foot-deep pit.
• Ability to walk, stand, bend, stoop, twist, hold, grasp, pull, and turn for extended periods.
• Ability to work in hot or cold weather conditions when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Complete Certified Technician training.
• Serve as Manager on Duty when needed by coordinating workflow and helping the team deliver safe, efficient, high-quality service.
• Model fast, friendly customer service, respond to customer needs, and resolve concerns professionally.
• Ensure services are completed accurately and consistently while reinforcing company procedures, safety requirements, and service standards.
• Support shop performance by identifying opportunities for improvement and taking on additional leadership responsibilities when the Shop Manager is unavailable.
• Train new team members, provide real-time coaching and feedback, reinforce expectations, and recognize strong performance.
• Perform all Certified Technician and Lead Technician responsibilities.
• Complete opening and closing procedures.
• Assist with daily inventory counts and adjustments.
• Support shop communication, reporting, and operational follow-up.
