About The Position
Take 5 Oil Change is a neighborhood go-to oil change spot with over 35 years of experience, known for friendly technicians, oil change expertise, and an efficient process that allows customers to stay in their vehicles. The Assistant Shop Manager role is an opportunity for customer service-oriented, driven individuals with leadership skills to join a growing team. While experience is valued, it is not required, as comprehensive paid training is provided. This training covers managing a shop location, performing oil changes, replacing wiper blades and air filters, filling tires, and other light maintenance services. Take 5 emphasizes rapid career advancement, with many Shop Managers having started as Crew Members or Assistant Shop Managers. Requirements
- Must be able to lift to fifty (50) pounds
- Must be able to maneuver in and out of a shallow 3’ deep pit to position yourself safely under cars
- Must be able to walk, stand, bend, stoop, twist, etc. for extended periods of time and perform activities involving holding, grasping, pulling, and turning
- Must be willing to work in hot/cold weather conditions if necessary
- Must have reliable transportation to and from the shop
- Willingness to learn, work hard, and bring a positive attitude to the shop
Nice To Haves
- Experience as a server, restaurant worker, mechanic, retail employee, landscaper, or other skilled trade worker
Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service and process payment for services performed
- Assume the responsibility and authority of the Shop Manager in the Shop Manager’s absence
- Run the floor (making sure each employee is where they need to be, ensuring everything has been checked on each vehicle, and every customer is satisfied before they leave)
- Perform opening and closing procedures
- Assist with counting and adjusting inventory
- Train new employees to fulfill duties in the Take 5 way
- Drain motor oil, change oil filters, and perform other auto services as necessary
- Restock and maintain inventory levels on the floor
- Maintain shop, office, and bathroom cleanliness
