About The Position

The Assistant Shift Manager is responsible for guiding production employees in a manufacturing and assembly environment in accordance with cost, quality & quantity specifications and safety procedures. Must be willing and able to work in an environment exposed to elements that can include but are not limited to coolant, dust, mist, elevated noise and uncontrolled temperatures.

Requirements

2+ years' experience in a manufacturing environment required
Familiarity with equipment and tools being used.
Knowledge of business and management principles, budgeting, resource allocation and human resources.
Self-motivated with a results-driven approach.
Strong team building, decision making and people management skills.
Understanding of continuous improvement and the ability to learn and adapt to new processes.
Ability to effectively manage people in a production environment.
Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
Excellent communication skills.

Nice To Haves

prior quality or leadership expereince preferred
High School diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with all other departments in order to meet production goals.
Direct and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in the production or processing of goods, such as assemblers, inspectors, machine setters and fabricators.
Inspect materials, products, equipment and building facilities to detect defects or malfunctions.
Investigate and resolve worker problems, complaints or issues before raising to upper management.
Monitor equipment and production performance (e.g., OEE/line efficiency) to ensure standards are met.
Recommend or implement measures to motivate employees and to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality and efficiency.
Send shift handoff form via email, detailing production data, problems from prior shifts and any other applicable information.
Track, submit and approve attendance and hours worked through company time keeping system and payroll system.
Conduct employee training on equipment and operations in terms of quality in station work procedures and safety procedures, or assign employee training to other certified trainers.
Confer with production management to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments and shifts.
