About The Position

Linden Grove Middle School is seeking an Assistant School Secretary for the Attendance and Behavior Office. This full-time, 10-month position is responsible for word processing reports, managing student accounting, assisting the principal and assistant principal, interacting with the public and students, and performing reception duties. The role involves completing various school reports, operating standard office machines, and providing care for students with health issues or injuries.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Accredited Equivalency.
  • Evidence of keyboarding and computer proficiency through skills testing.
  • Evidence of skill in written and oral communications.
  • Ability to communicate with students, parents, and staff in a calm and supportive manner.
  • Knowledge of mathematical skills necessary for the performance of school responsibilities.
  • Evidence of skill in the student database.
  • Evidence of a desirable work record (i.e. low absenteeism, good job performance, flexibility).

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of classes in computers and business administration.
  • Previous experience in an office position.

Responsibilities

  • Completes reports and forms from rough drafts utilizing a computer in accordance with specific rules and instructions or school procedures.
  • Completes school reports, including student accounting, collects information from other employees, compiles data into an established format or form, performs calculations, and follows appropriate time schedules.
  • Performs back-up reception duties and answers the telephone. Interprets school procedures. Supplies information to assist the public in the completion of forms.
  • Operates standard office machines, including calculators, duplicating machines, data terminals, copiers, and other office machines.
  • Performs standard office tasks, including filing, checking, copying, data formatting, collating, and assembling.
  • Cares for students having health problems or injuries, contacts parents or doctors, arranges for medical follow-through, or determines that the child is under direct supervision of the parent.
  • Supervises the behavior of students who are sent to the office.
  • Processes due process hearing paperwork and files it according to procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
