About The Position

The Assistant School Director (ASD) position is an opportunity for passionate educators to help lead a United campus under the direction of the School Director. The ASD typically focuses on either Academics or Culture & Operations, but there is significant overlap in responsibilities between the two tracks. Assistant School Directors focused on Academics work to ensure thoughtful curriculum development and rigorous instruction and assessment while managing instructional staff. Assistant School Directors focused on Culture & Operations lead school-based operations and culture teams and are tasked with building and maintaining a positive and joyful school culture. In both cases, ASDs utilize data intelligently to continually improve the school and better serve students and families. Assistant School Directors operate with a constancy of purpose aligned with the mission and vision of United Schools.

Requirements

  • Holds a B.A./B.S. degree.
  • Has a combination of at least five years of proven school leadership and teaching experience in urban settings with an emphasis on data-driven instruction and demonstrable gains in student achievement.
  • Committed to using data-driven instructional practices and the techniques outlined in Teach Like a Champion 3.0 to improve student outcomes.
  • Comfortability with Google products for effective communication and completion of job responsibilities.

  • Advanced degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure thoughtful curriculum development and rigorous instruction and assessment while managing instructional staff (Academics track).
  • Lead school-based operations and culture teams and are tasked with building and maintaining a positive and joyful school culture (Culture & Operations track).
  • Utilize data intelligently to continually improve the school and better serve students and families.
  • Operate with a constancy of purpose aligned with the mission and vision of United Schools.
  • Write, refine, and internalize curriculum, lessons, and assessments.
  • Implement frequent feedback from team members.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
