About The Position

At the Element by Westin Calgary Downtown, we are seeking a dynamic Assistant Rooms Operations Manager responsible for overseeing Front Office Operations, including Night Audit and Valet Parking Attendants. The ideal candidate will possess a strong ability to provide leadership and support to associates, anticipating guest needs and exceeding expectations to ensure the highest level of service excellence and satisfaction according to brand and company standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years of experience leading a Front Office team in a mid-sized hotel.
  • Hospitality or Tourism program graduate or degree holder.
  • Outstanding work ethic, with a track record of reliability, punctuality, and an approachable demeanor.
  • Strong commitment to Safety.
  • Solid leadership skills, adept at training, coaching, and motivating a team.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve situations efficiently.
  • Agility to shift priorities as needed, including handling guest or associate situations outside of typical work hours and covering shifts as necessary.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, valuing teamwork and collaboration.
  • Physically able to stand, sit, walk, push, pull, crouch, and lift or carry objects up to 20 pounds or more.
  • Holder of a clean driver’s abstract.

Responsibilities

  • Provide the highest quality of service to guests and associates, setting an example for the team.
  • Educate and lead Front Office supervisors and associates on emergency procedures, key control, safety, and life safety precautions.
  • Train, motivate, and develop Front Office supervisors and associates while maintaining a positive work environment.
  • Develop and post timely work schedules for Front Office associates.
  • Support the Front Desk and Valet during peak times by handling telephone calls, taking messages, assisting with check-in/checkout, and parking/retrieving guest vehicles.
  • Empower Front Office associates to deliver excellent guest service by encouraging and rewarding responsive guest assistance.
  • Regularly solicit guest feedback to determine satisfaction levels with services and facilities.
  • Ensure implementation and compliance of all Element by Westin brand standard key control policies and procedures.
  • Establish department communication and information systems through various communication channels, including logs, department meetings, and Human Resources policies.
