About The Position

The Osthoff Resort & Spa is an award-winning AAA Four Diamond property located on the beautiful shores of Elkhart Lake. Renowned for our warm Midwest hospitality, we offer a variety of culinary experiences, including casual beach-side fare to elevated dining. We are seeking a talented Assistant Restaurant Manager to help with restaurant operations and deliver memorable dining experiences that match the beauty and prestige of our resort. In this hands-on position, you will oversee front and back-of-house operations of your ‘home’ restaurant, while also understanding operations for the other restaurant. You will lead a team with a variety of experience levels and work on continuously improving their skills. You will ensure the highest standards of quality, consistency, and service, playing a key role in the guest experience.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • 3+ years of experience in a restaurant setting with proven leadership experience
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Passion for hospitality and a commitment to creating guests for life
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for diplomatically handling team members and guests
  • Ability to work under pressure and make decisions confidently
  • Skilled trainer of service technique and customer satisfaction skills
  • Knowledge of cuisine, wine, beer, and liquor
  • Must have or be willing to obtain a food safety certification and bartending license
  • Maintain positive can-do attitude, and inspire that trait in others
  • Possess great time management skills, with the ability to think on the spot
  • Must have flexibility in time to meet the business needs of the department and resort

Responsibilities

  • Display exceptional leadership by providing a positive work environment and demonstrating a dedicated and professional approach to management
  • Create schedules and manage payroll for home restaurant
  • Provide on-the-job training for new team members
  • Increase overall knowledge and expertise for all team members by continual and consistent training
  • Provide coaching to employees as appropriate
  • Ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the restaurant by hosting, bussing, bartending, expediting, and serving as needed
  • Stay up to date with the procedures/menus/etc. in other restaurant to be able to fill in as needed
  • Motivate and inspire team members by creating value and contagious energy
  • Assist Manager of Restaurants and F&B Director with fine-tuning systems to enhance guests’ experience and create consistency
  • Update POS system when needed
  • Fill out daily reports/bank deposit/cash drawer
  • Assist with monthly inventory and weekly ordering as needed
  • Review daily checklists and maintenance schedules
  • Report any equipment maintenance or replacement needs
  • Ensure all food safety and sanitation protocols are strictly followed
  • Attend meetings as needed
  • All other duties as assigned
