About The Position

The Assistant Residence Manager's primary role is to ensure the smooth operation of the residence, prioritizing the well-being and benefit of each consumer while adhering to all relevant regulations. This position involves direct care, staff supervision, administrative tasks, facilities management, and ensuring community inclusion for the individuals supported.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
  • Working knowledge of OPWDD regulations.
  • Familiarity with Justice Center requirements.
  • Ability to handle emergencies in a professional manner.
  • Demonstrates a high level of professionalism with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Demonstrates respect for the people supported.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work as a team with co-workers.
  • Demonstrates respect for supervisors and a willingness to learn.

Nice To Haves

  • A clean and valid NYS driver’s license is preferred.
  • Experience working with people with developmental disabilities/traumatic brain injured preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care for People Supported as needed.
  • Supervise and schedule program support staff.
  • Document on-floor observations.
  • Perform administrative office duties as requested by the Manager and Program Coordinator.
  • Manage facilities and physical plant follow-up.
  • Oversee community inclusion, ensuring at least three inclusions per week.
  • Develop activities both inside and outside the house and maintain a monthly recreation calendar.
  • Ensure the diet and nutrition of People Supported, including menu planning and weight records.
  • Monitor the health and medical needs of People Supported through contact with physicians, dentists, and other treatment personnel.
  • Ensure program plans for People Supported are followed.
  • Obtain and maintain AMAP/CPR/First Aid/SCIP-R certifications.
  • Upload receipts to Accufund.
  • Complete assignment sheets, summary notes, and incident reports.
  • Oversee UKG payroll.
  • Assume all managerial responsibilities in the absence of the Residential Manager.
  • Responsible for hiring, training, evaluating, and, in conjunction with the director, terminating staff.
  • Handle disciplinary actions and ED memos for the house.
  • Write and conduct three-month performance reviews for new direct care staff and their formal annual performance reviews.
  • Participate in monthly staff meetings.
  • Meet regularly with the clinical team to provide ongoing monitoring of consumer program progress.
  • Conduct orientation programs for all new direct care staff.
  • Maintain the fire book and vehicle log.
