About The Position

Catholic Charities of Long Island is seeking an Assistant Residential Manager to join their team and contribute to the well-being of developmentally disabled adults. This role involves assisting the Residence Manager in providing person-centered care, encouraging teamwork, supervising staff, observing regulatory requirements, and ensuring effective house operations. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned supervisor with experience in caring for developmentally disabled adults, including those with age-onset medical issues.

Requirements

High School Diploma/GED
Minimum of 2 yrs. experience supervising staff in a residential care setting is required
Experience caring for developmentally disabled adults in a residential setting
Well-developed administrative & organizational skills
Clean, valid NYS Driver’s License
Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule according to resident care needs
Ability to assist in a 2-person lift of consumer
Ability to transfer persons weighing as much as 250 pounds I and out of bed to a wheelchair, from a wheelchair to toilet or mat, or from a mat to a wheelchair
Ability to propel consumer in wheelchair safely
Capable of stopping and crouching to lift
Ability to protect self, in a non-aggressive manner, during physical or emotional outburst of a resident

Associate’s Degree preferred

Responsibilities

Supervising Residence Counselors and assisting in scheduling staff to ensure full staffing 24/7
Ensuring that Individual Service Plans and goals are developed with residents, implemented and documented appropriately by staff
In absence of Manager, communicating with residents’ family members to provide information, status reports
Performing hands-on Residence Counselor duties as needed, including transporting and accompanying residents into the community, providing direct care, performing household maintenance duties
