About The Position

The Assistant Quality Manager will be responsible for establishing, maintaining, and continuously improving customer quality processes to ensure compliance with customer-specific requirements and the Quality Management System (QMS). This role involves leading the timely and effective resolution of customer complaints, warranty claims, and quality issues through structured problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration. The Assistant Quality Manager will monitor customer scorecards, PPM, complaints, warranty performance, and external quality losses, identifying risks and driving improvement actions. They will also lead and support cross-functional quality improvement initiatives, verify corrective action effectiveness, and promote prevention-based quality management. A key aspect of this role is maintaining effective communication with customers, understanding the Voice of Customer (VOC), and representing the company's quality interests while fostering constructive customer relationships. Additionally, the Assistant Quality Manager will lead, develop, and manage the customer quality team to ensure appropriate capability, accountability, workload distribution, and performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Quality Management, Manufacturing, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in automotive quality, customer quality, or related fields.
  • 2+ years of experience in quality leadership, supervision, or project leadership.
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office software Word, Excel, Power Point.
  • Proficient in IATF Core (Five) Tools and quality statistics knowledge.
  • Proficient in using 8D method to solve problems.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive glass manufacturing, quality standards, and inspection/test methods.
  • Strong understanding of IATF 16949, customer-specific requirements, and quality management principles.
  • Proficient in 8D, structured problem solving, quality tools, and data analysis.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership, communication, and customer relationship management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to prioritize risks, respond with urgency, make sound decisions, and drive results while protecting company interests.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain customer quality processes, procedures, and related documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with customer-specific requirements (CSRs), IATF 16949, and the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Monitor changes in customer requirements and coordinate internal implementation.
  • Provide training and guidance on customer quality requirements.
  • Manage customer complaints, warranty claims, and field quality issues.
  • Lead cross-functional problem solving, including containment, root cause analysis, corrective action, and effectiveness verification.
  • Ensure timely and effective customer responses and 8D closure.
  • Support warranty analysis, responsibility determination, recovery, and claim dispute activities.
  • Identify recurring issues and drive systemic corrective actions.
  • Monitor and analyze customer scorecards, PPM, complaints, warranty performance, and external quality losses.
  • Identify performance risks and lead improvement action plans.
  • Report customer quality performance and key risks to management and recommend actions.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of customer quality data and reports.
  • Serve as a key quality interface with customers.
  • Maintain effective communication and understand Voice of Customer (VOC).
  • Support customer visits, audits, quality reviews, and escalation activities.
  • Represent FGA's quality position based on facts, data, customer requirements, and company interests.
  • Support customer, internal, and certification audits and follow up on findings.
  • Drive cross-functional quality improvement and verify effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Promote the application of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plan, SPC, MSA, 8D, and other quality tools.
  • Lead and manage the customer quality team, including work assignment, prioritization, and performance management.
  • Develop team capability through training, coaching, and personnel development plans.
  • Promote accountability, teamwork, and a customer-focused quality culture.
  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual quality reports as required.
  • Prepare customer quality performance reviews and management presentations.
  • Escalate significant quality risks and unresolved customer issues in a timely manner.
  • Support the Quality Manager in achieving departmental objectives and quality goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
