About The Position

Under the Quality Manager’s leadership, the Assistant Quality Manager supports implementation and maintenance of the facility’s food safety, quality, and sanitation programs, helping the Quality department meet internal and external customer expectations. The role supports laboratory activities, regulatory and audit compliance, quality controls, employee training, and development of location-specific quality programs. It also provides backup for the Quality Manager and Quality Technician and relief coverage for other locations.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Grain Science, or Baking, or equivalent industry experience with progressively responsible laboratory assignments in food manufacturing quality labs.
Working knowledge of major commercial software programs.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Approachable, collaborative, hands-on work style with attention to detail.
Basic knowledge of food plant sanitation, pest control, and cGMPs.

Nice To Haves

HACCP and PCQI certification is recommended; certification may be provided.

Responsibilities

Support laboratory activities and perform laboratory analysis as needed.
Support FDA compliance efforts related to GMPs, the Food Safety Plan (HACCP), and Food Defense.
Support customer, third-party, and company audits to ensure compliance.
Follow established data quality control protocols and investigate and rectify discrepancies.
Prepare laboratory standards according to established protocols and use them as prescribed to validate instrument operation.
Ensure instruments are calibrated as prescribed, verify results, and maintain calibration records.
Assist in preparing customer specifications during each crop year.
Assist with companywide employee training programs.
Assist in developing location-specific quality policies and programs.
Provide support and backup for Quality Manager and Quality Technician responsibilities.
Provide relief coverage for other locations.
