About The Position

Great opportunity to join the growing MasTec Civil, LLC team as an Assistant Project Manager in beautiful Charleston, SC as we are expanding our footprint across the state with a new heavy civil project that is sure to create a lasting impact for the community for years to come! At MasTec Civil, LLC, the Assistant Project Manager reports to and is responsible for assisting the Project Executive with the daily management, supervision, coordination, and successful completion of the project(s) to meet schedule and cost objectives with respect to contracting, scheduling, construction coordination and contract administration functions. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Science and Management
  • 5+ years of heavy highway experience
  • 2+ years of progressive project management experience preferred
  • Professional Engineering registration in civil engineering preferred
  • Experience in Design-Build project delivery preferred
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Strong communication skills both oral and written
  • Ability to multi-task effectively
  • Self-starter who works well independently
  • Adaptable and calm under pressure

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with management to develop and adjust project plans, staffing, equipment, and timelines.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve execution strategies throughout the project.
  • Serve as the primary company representative on-site.
  • Lead progress and internal coordination meetings, ensure timely document submission, and conduct pre-activity meetings to align on scope, resources, safety, and quality requirements.
  • Partner with HR to staff the project, supervise engineering personnel, mentor junior engineers, and enforce company policies across the team.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of contract documents and payment terms.
  • Review and approve invoices, subcontractor payments, and cost reports, identifying variances and potential claims.
  • Manage the project budget, monitor cost performance, optimize work methods, and ensure proper documentation and submission of change orders and claims.
  • Negotiate, coordinate, and oversee subcontractors and vendors, ensuring timely payments and resolution of disputes or changes.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of all project records, including daily reports, logs, photos, and meeting minutes.
  • Represent the company professionally in all interactions, maintaining strong relationships and handling negotiations with integrity.
  • Enforce company and OSHA safety standards, ensuring a safe work environment across all project activities.
