About The Position

STV is seeking an Assistant Project Manager for its Water Practice Group. This role will contribute to water and wastewater project development and execution within a growing practice area. Projects encompass a wide range of types, sizes, and clients. The office location can be in New York City, White Plains, NY, Lawrenceville, NJ, or Philadelphia, PA, working alongside key water staff members. The position involves independently performing engineering assignments with clear objectives, including engineering studies, design, and construction services. The candidate will collaborate with various project managers, assisting with work planning, meetings, communications, and status monitoring.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Environmental, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering.
• Certified Engineer in Training.
• 5 years or more of experience in detailed planning and design of water and wastewater facilities including pump stations, water treatment facilities, and wastewater treatment facilities.
• Background in hydraulics and pumping systems design.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to build strong relationships.

Nice To Haves

• Master’s degree.
• Familiar working with and providing input to designers using AutoCAD for 2-D and 3-D detailed design of water or wastewater facilities.
• Familiarity with NYC or Philadelphia Metro area clients.

Responsibilities

• Designing pumping and conveyance facilities, and treatment plant improvements with limited supervisory assistance.
• Performing design calculations and preparing equipment or material specifications.
• Providing direction to drafting personnel.
• Supporting project managers in establishing workflows, communicating with design disciplines, and monitoring project schedules and budgets.
• Taking responsibility for or learning project management, client interface, and business development for future projects.
• Communicating with facility operations personnel to understand their needs during studies and design.
• Determining and coordinating the acquisition of additional information needed to advance studies and designs.
• Preparing draft memos and engineering reports, and addressing review comments from team members and clients.
• Recognizing discrepancies in results and communicating findings and recommendations.
• Exercising judgment in developing and analyzing engineering alternatives and providing well-justified recommendations.
• Managing multiple work assignments and prioritizing work with supervisory assistance.
