About The Position

Colliers Engineering & Design is looking for an Assistant Project Manager - Interior Design to join our Commercial Building Engineering Services team in Philadelphia, PA! You will assist in the technical and administrative direction and supervision of projects through constant communication with the Project Manager and the client to ensure that the project is completed in accordance with the contract. May serve as Project Manager on smaller projects to develop the skills for a career path into Project Management. Our in-house team of architects, interior designers, engineers, and planners skillfully balance design constraints with the clients’ needs and desired outcome. This creates collaborative, dynamic and timeless designs. Our professionals also provide mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) design; programming, corporate branding, standards integration, workstation specification, facilities and construction management support, energy solutions, and LEED certification. We take pride in delivering results that are innovative, sustainable and award winning. This multidisciplinary coordination supports clearer communication and more cohesive outcomes across commercial, workplace, healthcare, education, hospitality, and mixed-use environments. By evaluating decisions within the full project context, we help reduce rework and maintain alignment from concept through construction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree in Architecture or Interior Design or equivalent work experience as required to maintain licensed architect status.
  • 8+ years of experience as an Interior Designer on commercial related projects.
  • Prior experience in Revit is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to effectively work well with all employees and managers.
  • Client facing experience.
  • Ability to work primarily independently.
  • Willing to travel occasionally to client sites and meetings.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Interior Designer (NCIDQ) and/or AIA licensure in the state of Pennsylvania preferred.
  • AutoCAD, Adobe Creative, and SketchUp experience is a plus.
  • Previous business development and project management experience preferred in planning and executing design/construction projects.
  • Ability to work in close collaboration with other managers and leadership, clients, in-house and outside consultants.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparation of effective work plans and labor budgets for approval by supervisor.
  • Monitor time schedules and capital cost budgets on projects to satisfy client.
  • Oversee the work and productivity on assigned projects.
  • Strive to achieve predetermined goals for profit, productivity targets, and schedule of deliverables.
  • Participate in or hold team meetings ensuring procedures governing the review and approval of projects are followed prior to submission of completed work.
  • Negotiate with clients on any scope changes relative to project budgets and schedules subject to supervisor's approval.
  • Ensure all project work is performed and completed in accordance with QA/QC standards, systems and procedures as designated for project.
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with all employees involved in the project to ensure high utilization rates (i.e. Project team meeting).
  • Review monthly labor and cost reports to ensure projects are being completed at the pre-established goal.
  • Assist with mentoring junior staff in learning sound technical and business practices and enhancing corporate objectives.
  • Assist with the preparation for public hearings, meetings and any other presentations in relation to current projects.
  • Works efficiently with the Billing Department to authorize and transmit bills to client. Follows up with clients for timely payments.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety program and all applicable SOPs.
  • May oversee the activities of assigned staff, including but not limited to timesheet review and approval, performance evaluation and daily supervision.
