About The Position

The Assistant Project Manager independently manages complex coordination, documentation, and financial tracking activities while serving as a key extension of the Project Manager on 2-4 projects. This role proactively identifies risks, drives resolution of issues, and helps ensure successful project execution and smooth turnover to operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, business, public administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in large-scale construction project management, engineering, or similar.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Procore, and an ability to learn company-specific software programs, tools, processes, and machines.
  • Intermediate understanding of solar designs, including the ability to read and understand construction drawings.
  • Foundational knowledge of manpower and equipment considerations needed to build a project.
  • Intermediate understanding of the financial model and the inputs construction and pre-construction own, including how those impact the company.
  • Ability to read and analyze the EPC Agreements, including being an active member in negotiations with contractors.
  • Mindfully applies foundational project management principles throughout the project lifecycle, including proactively finding ways to improve cost and schedule while maintaining scope.
  • Assists in executing the deliverables within our agreements (PPA, LGIA, ESA), permits, and financial agreements with the banks.
  • Capable at nurturing new relationships, fostering trust and collaboration for achieving shared goals.
  • Ability to manage conflict with internal and external stakeholders, and collaborates with the Project Manager to find a solution when things escalate.
  • Ability to lead and manage relationships with global vendors and third parties.
  • Increased confidence in independent thinking, allowing for some non-critical decisions to be made without consultation.
  • Self-motivated to work through complex problems and competing priorities, including a high level of detail and organization.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in solar and/or energy storage construction is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead pre-construction support activities by reviewing design deliverables, monitoring design milestones, coordinating with engineering, legal, and permitting teams, and ensuring project documentation aligns with owner objectives and contractual requirements.
  • Actively manage procurement tracking by reviewing submittals for compliance, monitoring procurement schedules, tracking spare parts and long-lead items, and escalating risks that could impact schedule or cost.
  • Monitor construction progress against the approved schedule, independently identify delays or risks, and provide clear recommendations to the Project Manager for mitigation and recovery strategies.
  • Own the administration and tracking of RFIs, submittals, change orders, and EPC deliverables, ensuring workflows are completed accurately and maintained.
  • Support change management by evaluating change order requests, analyzing cost and schedule impacts, and ensuring adherence to company-wide change control processes.
  • Take a lead role in financial management activities, including reviewing pay applications, validating invoices, tracking budgets and cost codes, and coordinating with Accounts Payable to support timely and accurate payments.
  • Support jobsite safety, quality control, and inspection efforts by reviewing reports, tracking corrective actions, and ensuring compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as a central communication hub between the Project Manager, contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders, proactively resolving issues and escalating critical concerns when necessary.
  • Lead closeout coordination activities by managing punch list tracking, organizing turnover documentation, coordinating final inspections and walkthroughs, and supporting a seamless handoff to Portfolio Operations.
  • Collaborate with individual departments, as well as cross-functionally with other departments within the organization.
  • Maintain organizational excellence in terms of project timelines and deliverables.
