About The Position

Challenge Unlimited is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to supervise work-related opportunities for individuals with disabilities within integrated teams. The role involves providing work support and development to help individuals achieve the highest level of independence possible. The Assistant Project Manager will oversee commissary store worker janitorial cleaning duties, act as a backup contact with site contract management, and provide training, support, and feedback with a focus on safety and company culture. Key responsibilities include hiring, scheduling, training, evaluating, disciplining, processing changes, and timekeeping for workers. The role also involves assisting with budget monitoring, controlling labor and supply expenses, inventory management, and ensuring quality and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of relevant commissary and/or janitorial experience
  • At least 2 years in a supervisory or training role
  • Commensurate combination of education and experience accepted
  • Solid oral and written communication skills required
  • Valid Driver’s License (regular in TX, IL, WI, OH, SC; Class E in MO)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Must pass criminal background check.
  • Must pass various State and Federal registry checks.
  • Must pass DCFS Abuse and Neglect Tracking System check
  • Must pass driving history check and Company policy criteria.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license and be 21 or older to drive.
  • Company travel using personal insured vehicle is required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises employees and clients in the performance of commissary store worker janitorial cleaning duties at the assigned site.
  • Acts as a backup/alternate point of contact with site contract management.
  • Provides training, support, and on-going feedback to all workers on job duties, proper procedures, and areas for improvement, with a special focus on safety and company culture.
  • Supervising duties include hiring, scheduling, training, evaluating, disciplining, processing changes and timekeeping for workers.
  • Assists with monitoring the budget, controlling labor and supply expenses and inventory, and ensuring quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies and chemicals needed to meet contract requirements and advises Project Manager of reorder needs.
  • Notifies Project Manager of any equipment needed to support the contract that is not currently available.
  • Assures proper use of Company resources, equipment, and cell phones.
  • Schedules workers to perform contract requirements and creates and communicates daily task assignments.
  • Stocks and straightens merchandise for sale in the store.
  • Displays merchandise by a predetermined placement system using labels or other identifying marks.
  • Develops, modifies, and completes contract paperwork as needed and/or required.
  • Supports the Project Manager in all needed tasks.
  • Ensures work is performed in accordance with the contract’s statement of work and in compliance with Company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, customer requirements, and quality and safety standards.
  • Provides a safe environment for all workers and customers.
  • Follows and enforces OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) regulations.
  • Completes incident and/or accident reports in accordance with Company policies.
  • Takes preventative and corrective action as needed.
  • Conducts safety training, inspections, and ensures workers utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Maintains quality standards.
  • Promptly corrects any deficiencies and rectifies any customer complaints.
  • Transports crew to and from cleaning locations as needed.
  • Relays pertinent information to workers and Project Manager about any updates or changes to the contract in a timely, accurate manner.
  • Meets the needs of clients while fulfilling contract obligations.
  • Applies techniques for working with individuals with disabilities in the workplace.
  • Trains and works with clients to help them develop job skills and work/behavior skills which may help them achieve the highest level of independence possible.
  • Completes semiannual client assessments.
  • Supervises all site positions, ensuring work is performed according to the contract’s statement of work, company policies, and procedures.
  • Directs any subcontractors used to supplement contract work.
  • Oversees new worker training and ongoing training for all crew members.
  • Provides input on scheduled assessments and/or evaluations.
  • Communicates client, employee and customer issues to Project Manager and makes recommendations for correction and/or discipline.
  • Encourages effective outcomes and accountability.
  • Communicates job expectations; motivates, coaches, and counsels employees.
  • Builds an effective company culture that embodies Company values to achieve optimum performance levels and achieve goals and objectives.
