About The Position

Alternatives, Inc. in Phillipsburg, NJ is looking to hire a full-time Assistant Group Home Manager to support adults with developmental disabilities and help oversee residential group home program. We pay a competitive wage of $22.00/hr ($24.00 on weekends). Our services include residential, behavior support, support coordination, and recreation. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record
  • Ability to pass criminal/registry background checks and a drug screen
  • Clear tuberculosis (TB) screening
  • Ability to pass and maintain required trainings such as CPR/first aid, medication administration, and positive behavioral support training
  • Basic computer skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities in a group setting is strongly preferred for the temporary Assistant Group Home Manager position, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living such as administering medication, cooking meals, performing personal hygiene, and transportation to medical appointments.
  • Assist in the implementation of individual behavioral plans.
  • Teach new skills and help residents achieve goals using effective teaching and mentoring techniques.
  • Encourage resident interests and drive them to community outings and recreational activities based on individual preferences and behavioral plans.
  • Report any concerns about resident health and safety.
  • Keep documentation accurate and up-to-date.
  • Assist the Group Home Manager with staff scheduling, budgeting, communication with doctors' offices and parents/guardians, and perform fire drills.
