About The Position

Greater Good Charities is a 501(c)(3) global nonprofit organization that works to help people, pets, and the planet by mobilizing in response to need and amplifying the good. To date, we have provided over $1B in aid, expertise, and funding in 121 countries in support of this mission. Construction Program Assistant Managers facilitate all Rescue Rebuild tasks in support of Rescue Rebuild Program Managers. They will be in the field at least 25% of the work year renovating, scouting and coaching Rescue Rebuild shelter partners. While not in the field, Construction Program Assistant Managers work with managers to design, budget, and plan jobs. As part of this, they will work on all permitting, ordering, project logistics, travel logistics, and scheduling. They will also work on these same tasks on our coaching projects.

Requirements

  • Construction knowledge or be willing to learn construction techniques.
  • Excellent computer skills and willingness to learn CAD design and computer rendering.
  • Must be self-motivated, accountable, and resourceful.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Dedication to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and collaborative work environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that each project's construction methods and materials are appropriate, and that all materials are ordered in time for each Rescue Rebuild project.
  • Frequent travel for renovation projects, shelter scouting, and shelter consulting (generally, but not limited to, 45% of the year).
  • Learning to drive both Rescue Rebuild vehicles: a 24’ bumper-pull trailer and an 18’ box truck.
  • Participating in construction duties on job sites.
  • Supervising volunteers on job sites.
  • Aiding in ongoing planning and estimating of other upcoming projects.
  • Assisting with project design, planning, logistics, consulting duties, shelter, partner, and vendor communication and accounting when not traveling.
  • Assisting with administrative tasks including volunteer management, job-related storytelling, and writing.
  • Keeping project and consulting budgets up to date.
