Assists the Program Director in supervision of staff as assigned and has oversight of clinical operations. This role serves as the head of service in the absence of the Program Director and acts as a liaison between administrative, clinical/program staff, and other agencies. The Assistant Program Director supervises assigned staff, including providing clinical supervision hours for BBS registered staff/interns, and assists in clinical program development. Responsibilities include recruiting and interviewing applicants for clinical positions, planning and implementing clinical training for staff, and assisting with the training and supervision of new therapists and case aides. The role requires maintaining detailed knowledge of and monitoring compliance with DMH and Gateways’ documentation requirements and service delivery benchmarks. The Assistant Program Director participates in educational seminars, assists with the development, maintenance, and evaluation of policies and procedures, and writes reports and presentations as required. They attend inter/intra-agency meetings for networking and information sharing, keeping program personnel informed of professional and community trends. Participation in staff and treatment team meetings is expected, contributing pertinent information. The role may involve assisting other programs as necessary, working independently, and providing on-call coverage for emergency consultation and intervention outside of regular work hours. Assistance in crisis situations and facilitation of client transfers to higher levels of care are also part of the duties. The Assistant Program Director develops, implements, and monitors the integrity of the group schedule and may complete client assessments for placement (e.g., MDs, hospitals). They are responsible for hiring, training, evaluating, and developing corrective action plans for staff in collaboration with the Program Director and Vice President of Human Resources. Other duties as assigned are also part of the role.
