About The Position

The College of Education, Department of Kinesiology & Rehabilitation Science at the University of Hawaii at Manoa is seeking an Assistant Professor (F3) for a tenure-track, full-time, permanent position. The appointment is expected to begin in August 2026 or soon thereafter. The selected candidate will be responsible for developing and teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses, serving as the Research Program Coordinator for the Hawaii Concussion Awareness, Management, and Education Program (HCAMP), and collaborating on research and grant proposals. The role also involves community outreach, service to the university and professional community, and other assigned duties. The position requires completion of COE New Faculty orientation, Title IX training, and a criminal background check.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree from a college or university of recognized standing in Kinesiology and Rehabilitation Science or related field.
  • Collaborative research experience in TBI, concussion, and related areas.
  • Track history of successful external funding.
  • Track history of successful research dissemination through peer-reviewed publications & conference presentations.
  • Experience with developing and teaching in-person and online courses related to concussion and TBI.
  • Experience working with public and private high school athletic directors, youth sports program directors, and recreational programs directors, statewide in concussion, TBI and related conditions.
  • Experience with developing professional development education for educators, administrators, school nurses and/or special service providers.
  • Experience with public event planning and outreach with stakeholders.
  • Accuracy, alertness, and adaptability.
  • Professionalism in meeting and conferring with others.
  • Satisfy employment eligibility verification requirements of the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.
  • Pass the criminal background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Post-doctoral training experience in concussion or related area(s).
  • Experience with conducting research supported through federal funding (e.g., NIH, NSF).
  • Experience in managing and treating individuals with TBI and/or concussion.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and teach undergrad and graduate level courses via on campus and/or distance and hybrid delivery methods.
  • Serve as Research Program Coordinator of the Hawaii Concussion Awareness, Management, and Education Program (HCAMP).
  • Assist with administering and carrying out HCAMP’s concussion-based research projects, including compliance, post-award management, data sharing agreements, subject recruitment, and generating reports.
  • Disseminate HCAMP research results through peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, or similar outputs.
  • Collaborate with other faculty and staff in drafting and submitting competitive research grant proposals.
  • Assist with coordinating and staffing HCAMP events & community outreach.
  • Provide service to the university, public schools, and professional community.
  • Other duties as assigned.
