About The Position

The Department of Statistics at the University of Washington invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor faculty position with an anticipated start date of September 2027. The appointment is for a nine-month academic year (September 16–June 15) and is a three-year renewable term beginning September 16, 2027. The successful candidate will join a globally recognized department with a highly interactive, interdisciplinary research and teaching community spanning theoretical statistics, computational methodology, data science, artificial intelligence, and applied data analysis. Faculty are expected to engage in teaching, research, and service in a diverse and inclusive academic community. The base salary is $13,888–$15,555 per month ($125,000–$140,000 per year), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

Requirements

• Ph.D. or foreign equivalent in Statistics, Biostatistics, or a related field by the start of the appointment.
• A research record in any area of statistics.

Nice To Haves

• Research in areas such as theoretical statistics, statistical methodology, stochastic modeling, computational statistics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, statistics education, or applications of statistics in the physical, biomedical, engineering, or social sciences.
