The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at James Madison University (JMU) is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin in Fall 2027. This position is ideal for individuals with expertise in any subdiscipline of chemistry who have research and teaching interests in computational/theoretical chemistry. The role will contribute to JMU's strong tradition of undergraduate teaching and research training, utilizing over $10 million in existing instrumentation. JMU's Chemistry Department is an undergraduate-only program within an R2 institution, serving approximately 200 majors and around 3000 undergraduate students annually. The department offers a variety of courses for majors, STEM students, general education, and pre-health professionals, with majors actively participating in student organizations and undergraduate research. The department is dedicated to enhancing student success, attracting diverse faculty and students, and fostering a welcoming environment. With 29 full-time faculty, the department offers ACS-certified B.S. degrees and covers all major areas of chemistry.
