About The Position

Misericordia University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Criminology/Criminal Justice position. The successful candidate will begin in August 2027, though a January 2027 start may be possible if circumstances permit. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and student mentorship. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in both criminology and criminal justice, including courses such as Introduction to Criminology, Criminological Theory, and Quantitative Research Methods, as well as other courses that support the curriculum. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to develop and teach elective courses that align with their professional expertise and research interests. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate education and the ability to engage students in a dynamic learning environment. Service to the department, university, and profession is expected, consistent with the responsibilities of a tenure-track faculty member.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or a closely related field required by the time of appointment
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of appointment and throughout the duration of employment.
• Demonstrated commitment to effective teaching and student success
• Potential for scholarly achievement and professional engagement
• Ability to contribute to the growth and development of the Criminology program

• College or university teaching experience preferred
