Fort Hays State University is seeking an Assistant Professor for the Department of English and Modern Languages. This tenure-track position involves a 60% instruction, 20% scholarship, and 20% service division of labor with a 4/4 semester load. The role includes teaching American literature surveys, upper-division and graduate literature courses, general education literature courses, and composition, both on-campus and online. Summer teaching is also a possibility. The department offers a Bachelor of Arts in English with concentrations in Literature, Teaching, and Writing; a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with concentrations in Spanish Education and Spanish for Specific Purposes; and a Master of Arts degree in English. Most programs are available both on-campus and online. The department has a long-standing international program in China and aims to train graduates for international teaching careers. The College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Science is dedicated to preparing students for successful professional lives, lifelong learning, and civic engagement by fostering critical thinking, inquiry, problem-solving, communication, and leadership.
