Fort Hays State University is seeking an Assistant Professor for the Department of English and Modern Languages. This tenure-track position involves a division of labor with 60% instruction, 20% scholarship, and 20% service, with a 4/4 semester load. The role includes teaching American literature surveys, upper-division and graduate literature courses, general education literature courses, and composition, both on-campus and online. Summer teaching is also a possibility. The department offers Bachelor of Arts degrees in English (with concentrations in Literature, Teaching, and Writing) and Spanish (with concentrations in Spanish Education and Spanish for Specific Purposes), as well as a Master of Arts degree in English. Most programs are available both on-campus and online. The department has a long-standing international program, offering its Composition sequence in cross-border programs in China. The College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Science's mission is to prepare students for successful professional lives, lifelong learning, and civic engagement by cultivating critical thinking, social scientific inquiry, creative problem-solving, effective communication, and innovative leadership.
