About The Position

The College of Education and the Department of Counseling, Educational Psychology, and Research seeks a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track faculty member for the Counseling Psychology program, beginning August 17, 2026. The Counseling Psychology program is APA-accredited and emphasizes the development of professional competencies, a balanced scientist-practitioner training model, and the preparation of graduates for a wide variety of clinical and academic settings. The University of Memphis is a public research university committed to its urban mission and outreach programs. The Department of Counseling, Educational Psychology, and Research (CEPR) offers various graduate certificates, master's degrees, and doctoral degrees. Requirements

  • Earned doctoral degree (obtained by August 1st, 2026) in Counseling Psychology from an APA-accredited program
  • Evidence of an emerging (Assistant) or established (Associate) research agenda and publication record
  • Psychology licensure or license eligibility in the State of Tennessee
  • Documented evidence of ability in instruction, service, and research.
  • Served six years at the rank of assistant professor. Exceptions to this minimum rank qualification can be approved by the provost.
  • Documented evidence of high-quality professional productivity which is leading to national recognition in the academic discipline.
  • Professional comportment consistent with the Faculty Code of Conduct

Nice To Haves

  • Evidence of funded grant awards or participation in funded projects
  • Experience teaching graduate courses (in-person, online or hybrid format)
  • Interest or experience in teaching cognitive and personality assessment
  • Experience providing clinical supervision, including supervision of cognitive and personality assessment
  • Interest in serving in the Training Director role (Associate)
