About The Position

Oxford College, a two-year liberal arts undergraduate college within Emory University, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Environmental Science, beginning August 1, 2027. The successful candidate will contribute to the educational and intellectual vibrancy and diversity of the academic community through teaching, research, and service. They will teach and mentor a diverse population of motivated first- and second-year undergraduates, maintain an active program of scholarship, and engage in service broadly defined. The College seeks a broadly trained environmental scientist with expertise in environmental policy and the ability to teach within the natural sciences. The successful candidate will be prepared to teach an introductory Environmental Policy course and Introduction to Environmental Studies, which covers sustainability, biogeochemical cycles, ecology, Earth systems, energy resources, and climate change, and includes a field-based lab component. The faculty member may develop additional courses for majors and non-majors, including a first-year discovery seminar, and candidates able to contribute to a range of courses in the environmental science curriculum are especially encouraged to apply. The typical teaching load for Oxford College faculty in the sciences is two courses, with associated labs or the equivalent, each semester. Candidates should be committed to excellence in teaching and to an active research program with the potential to involve undergraduates. The Oxford Science Building, opened in 2016, supports student-faculty collaboration, scholarship, and innovative STEM teaching. Oxford College also offers programs supporting teaching, professional development, and grant seeking, including the Oxford Center for Teaching and Scholarship. Oxford College provides approximately 1,000 first- and second-year students with an intensive liberal arts program for the first two years of their Emory bachelor's degree. Its campus in Oxford, Georgia, is 36 miles east of Atlanta and emphasizes discovery, exploration, and reflection both in and beyond the classroom. Candidates must apply through the specified Interfolio application to be considered.
