About The Position

The University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Knoxville Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is seeking a part-time non-tenure Assistant Professor. This role is focused on teaching Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residents, with primary responsibilities in office-based sedation and anesthesia as well as office-based surgical care. Surgical instruction will include dentoalveolar procedures, pre-prosthetic surgery, biopsy procedures, and implant surgery. In addition, this position will involve the comprehensive management of maxillofacial trauma and odontogenic infections.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited dental degree
  • Completion of a CODA-accredited Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency
  • Active Tennessee dental license
  • Tennessee Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery specialty license
  • Tennessee general anesthesia permit

Nice To Haves

  • Board certification by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
  • Completion of a CODA-accredited Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency and fellowship training in cosmetic surgery
  • Demonstrated expertise in office-based anesthesia and sedation, as well as comprehensive office-based Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and facial cosmetic surgery procedures
  • Experience in the management of maxillofacial trauma and post-traumatic reconstructive surgery

Responsibilities

  • Direct supervision of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residents in office-based procedures conducted at the faculty member’s OMFS surgical center, as well as supervision of hospital-based procedures involving the comprehensive management of facial trauma and other emergency patient care.
