San José State University’s Occupational Therapy Department is hiring a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor beginning in August 2027. The position is intended for an experienced clinician committed to preparing future occupational therapists. The successful candidate will teach in the entry-level MSOT and OTD programs, covering foundational, professional development, practice, and research courses. The department seeks a motivated teacher-scholar with a passion for teaching and for developing impactful university-community collaborations. The program is the oldest accredited Occupational Therapy program in the California State University system. Its in-person programs have strong community ties, including faculty-led services for children, adults with physical disabilities and mental health challenges, and older adults living in the community. Faculty may also engage in interprofessional research and collaboration on campus. The department and university emphasize institutional excellence, equity, student success, and inclusive learning. Candidates are invited to describe how their lived and professional experiences will contribute to the SJSU community, particularly in relation to student success. The position requires an on-campus presence and may only be performed in California. Employment is contingent on US residence, eligibility to work in the United States, and satisfactory background and reference checks.
