Nursing - Assistant Professor
About The Position
The Assistant Professor in Nursing will be responsible for teaching pre-licensure BSN courses, adhering to New Mexico Nursing Education Consortium (NMNEC) guidelines. Teaching duties may include face-to-face and/or online course delivery, clinical instruction, laboratory skills, and simulation lab. The role involves contributing to instruction in laboratory and simulation settings, as well as teaching students in hospital or other clinical environments. Some involvement with graduate nursing courses and clinicals may also be required. The Assistant Professor will utilize the standardized nursing curriculum and the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). Responsibilities include maintaining a safe working environment, complying with safety regulations, and participating in departmental meetings and special projects. Office hours will be maintained commensurate with the credit-hour load. The position requires supervising students in class, clinical, and laboratory settings, following the policies and procedures of the School of Nursing and the University. Travel to Deming for class, clinical, and simulation is required at specified times each semester. Collaboration with nursing faculty and the Associate Dean is expected for maintaining accreditation standards, documentation, and quality improvement. Participation in University committees to support the University's Strategic Plan is also a component of this role. The Assistant Professor will utilize provided resources for professional development, particularly in nursing education. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
