About The Position

California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona) is seeking applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering, starting Fall 2027. Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited university by the date of appointment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusive excellence and student success.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely aligned field. The degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Academic experience and strength in Human-System Integration (including Virtual, Augmented, and Mixed Reality), Human Factors and Ergonomics, Intelligent Systems, and Decision Sciences.
  • Industrial experience in the Human-System Integration areas that will enhance teaching and research.
  • Demonstrated ability in university teaching, mentoring and supervising students, and/or improving industrial and manufacturing engineering curricula.
  • Demonstrated ability for authoring peer-reviewed publications and/or securing external funds.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Expertise in human systems integration or in the application of Operations Research and computational methods to novel problems in this area.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a broad range of industrial engineering courses (e.g., Human Factors Engineering, Operations Research, Facility Planning, Lean Manufacturing).
  • Develop new courses in human systems integration.
  • Establish a strong, externally funded research program in their area(s) of expertise.
