About The Position

The faculty member will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in Tourism and Hospitality Management, including areas such as hospitality operations, tourism management, gaming/casino management, and service management. They will contribute to entrepreneurship education through teaching courses, mentoring student ventures, or integrating entrepreneurial thinking into THM curricula. The role requires maintaining an active research agenda in tourism, hospitality, gaming, entrepreneurship, or related areas consistent with AACSB standards. Additionally, the position involves supporting curriculum innovation, including development and assessment of THM and gaming-focused courses and programs (e.g., certificates or minors), providing service at the departmental, school, university, and community levels, and supporting the School’s commitment to maintaining AACSB International accreditation.

Requirements

  • A Ph.D. in Tourism and Hospitality Management, Hospitality Administration, Business Administration (with relevant specialization), or a closely related discipline is required (ABD considered with completion by start date)
  • Evidence of, or strong potential for, effective teaching and scholarly productivity
  • Demonstrated expertise or experience in tourism, hospitality, or gaming/casino management

Nice To Haves

  • Industry or applied experience in hospitality, tourism, or gaming/casino operations
  • Background or demonstrated interest in entrepreneurship, innovation, or new venture development, particularly as it relates to hospitality or tourism industries
  • Ability to teach entrepreneurship-related courses or integrate entrepreneurial frameworks into THM curricula
  • Experience with experiential learning approaches, including internships, industry projects, simulations, or partnerships
  • Demonstrated ability to connect teaching and research to real-world industry challenges
  • Experience contributing to program development, particularly in tourism, hospitality, gaming, or entrepreneurship
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, personal integrity, and a commitment to supporting a diverse student body and the mission of a historically Black university
